Blahhh
Blah, I'm sick, but not sick enough to warrent calling into work or staying in bed. It's that quasi-sick-head cold thing that means you just have to go about your day feeling like poo! At least this held off until after all my traveling, between L.A. in Sept. and Bloomington in Oct and soon Michigan in November and Ohio in December! I just hope my voice comes back full force before my interview on Thur. Nothing else too exciting going on. No changes on the work front, still just interviewing away hoping for something that is technically full time and pays more. Also nothing new on the wedding front, still have the venue narrowed down between 3-4 drastically different places. It will definately be next year between Sept. and Dec. (Ok, maybe not definately, maybe 98% sure)! For my 'Twilight' buddies, just over a month til the movie!!! Also there was a new trailer posted for it the other day. Also, I just finished reading the author's other book 'The Host' which I also thought was amazing, so you might want to pick that one up to = ) | | Saturday, July 19th, 2008 | | 12:34 am |
My crazy night.... Around 3 in the morning I heard a noise which woke me from my wonderful, extremely deep sleep. I opened my eyes to find a psychopathic clown standing over my bed looking down at me. I couldn't even scream.... Nope, not a dream, movie, book excerpt, or hallucination. This was the work of my genius fiance who busted into my bedroom last night after returning home from the 12 a.m. showing of 'Dark Knight' wearing full Joker face paint, and I'm not talking about goofy Jack Nicholson, Joker, I'm talking creepy as all f-ing hell Heath Ledger Joker. Apparently the movie theater was trying to break a record for the most Jokers in one place at one time and had face painters working their magic while everyone waited in line. Apparently Dave didn't think it necessary to remove said costume before waking me to kiss me good-night. Yep, I was pretty angry and could really only point to my bedroom door and say 'OUT' What really irritated me was the fact that his seriously demented wake up call shook me up so much that I was unable to fall back asleep until about 5 a.m. Also pretty sure I now have a heart murmur. Thanks honey! I love you too! | | Saturday, July 12th, 2008 | | 12:04 am |
Sorry everyone, looks like Chicago trip will be later rather than sooner = ( The race filled up to capacity before Dave and I could find cheap plane tix. On a happier note, I will continue scoping out cheap airfare to the area because I am dying for several things: 1) a burrito from Laughing Planet 2) a trip to Oliver's 3) a sink the biz set from Nick's 4) to see EVERYONE!!!! I swear though, the minute I know I'm flying up I'll spread the word!!!! | | Tuesday, July 8th, 2008 | | 7:17 pm |
Wedding bands have been purchased! Woohoo! And I won a free engagement photo session, so double bonus! | | Tuesday, July 1st, 2008 | | 10:41 pm |
Tuesday, July 01, 2008 This past weekend went so quick and was pretty exhausting. I had a weekend wedding blitz! Fri-Sun. Dave and I checked out several venues, some close to home and the furthest away in St. Augustine (which made a nice little road trip ). Needless to say we put more time towards the wedding this weekend than we have in the past several months. Hooray us! I think we have it narrowed down to three different venues which couldn't be more different from each other. One is in Orlando, one in St. Augustine, and one in Ohio. No matter which we choose people are going to have to travel, so start saving your vacation days now! In the end I'll probably have to go through the numbers and we'll just pick whichever is the best value. Next dilema...what time of year??? Any suggestions? I'm pretty impartial. Well except for summer, it is just too hot! So autumn, winter, or spring, which will it be? Nothing new to report on the work/career front or on anything else for that matter. So I guess this is good night for now! | | Tuesday, June 24th, 2008 | | 11:21 pm |
Exactly six months ago, on 12/24, Dave proposed. I just thought I'd give an update and let everyone know what we have accomplished in terms of wedding planning over the past 1/2 year...... - bought wedding magazines -looked at two venues -watched several episodes of "whose wedding is it anyway?" -tried on 5 dresses, which I've already tried to repress the memory of as much as humanly possible So I guess you could still say I'm in the early research phase. Sorry everyone, still no idea where or when! My goal for the next 6 months... MAKE A DECISION! Dress, flowers, food, venue, anything, but at least decide on something! BAH! | | Sunday, June 22nd, 2008 | | 6:32 pm |
Muddy Buddy Weekend!
What a weekend! Dave and I just got back from our long weekend in Atlanta and we are beat! On Friday morning we drove the 7 hrs there and then spent about another 4-5 hours repeatedly getting lost while looking for our hotel, race packet pick-up location, and the location of the actual race. We eventually got settled into the hotel at about 11:30 at night. Luckily I did get a relatively good night sleep, even with Dave's snoring (thank you Tylenol PM). Then a very early morning, up at 5:30 a.m. and off and running (literally) by 7:30. The Muddy Buddy race was awesome! The hardest race I've ever run, by far. The course was all trails and crazy hills! The mountain biking portion was also alot more intense than we were expecting. Plus it rained all morning which turned the trails a little slippery. But we made it through the mud and the giant mud pit at the end and finished in a little over an hour (about 1:18). The rest of the day was spent relaxing, eating, and movie watching (Get Smart...it was okay, not great, but not terrible). Then this morning we drove all the way back through non-stop thunderstorms. Fun stuff. All in all it was an amazing weekend and had so much fun and can't wait to do it again (hopefully in Chicago in early August!) The rest of my evening will look something like this: Bathe, Eat, Sleep, THE END! | | Friday, June 13th, 2008 | | 1:30 am |
Never thought I'd say it, but 'MOVE OVER HARRY POTTER!' So I've become totally OBSESSED with another book series. 'Twilight' by Stephanie Meyers is like freaking crack to me. My friend Rebecca got me hooked. It all started when I went into work last Tuesday and Rebecca comes at me talking a mile a minute about this book and how she was so sorry she flaked out on me for the wedding show but she just couldn't put down this book and all she had been doing was reading and she hadn't ate for like 3 days. And I was just like 'uh huh.' So apparently the fact that I read this book was so important that she drove home during her lunch break to bring them to me. 36 hours and 1800 + pages later I'm now completely hooked and in love with yet another fictional character. Very healthy, I'm sure. So if you're bored and need a guilty pleasure/summer read (extremely EASY) read, pick up the book and join the 'Edward is so freaking ridiculously hot!' club. Then let me know you read it so we can discuss how amazingly awesome and addicting it is or the fact that you think I'm crazy. Either way is good, just let me know. And once again I apologize to my wonderful fiance who loves me despite all my emotional infidelities with fictional men who don't technically exist. | | Monday, June 2nd, 2008 | | 10:45 pm |
Yesterday I went to yet another bridal show. I go to get ideas, but mostly I go to try and win stuff. I figure if I attend enough shows and enter enough contests that maybe I could win every aspect of my wedding and save some $$. No luck yet though. And of course, I also go to snag free samples of cake. Most of yesterday my stomach contained nothing but cake samples and a Guiness (a necessity to soothe my nerves around all the bridezillas and pushy vendors). I also tried on two dresses because they were having a gown sale as well. Pictures of me in previously mentioned dresses will NOT, I repeat, NOT be appearing on this site. I looked hideous and then some. I really don't know how I am ever going to find a dress, I look ridiculous in formal wear. It would probably help if I dropped a few pounds as well. I have been working out a fair bit, but the scale won't budge; probably due to all the goodies I eat as a reward for working out or the daily McD's iced coffee I treat myself to for NOT calling in to work (since I am tempted to most days). There'll be more bridal updates as they happen. So don't hold your breath seeing as how I've been engaged for about six months now and have pretty much done nothing to move this whole wedding process foward. Outside the wacky world of weddings, good buddy Vince moved to Fla., and good buddy Crystal moved away from Fla. to Tx. = ( Last week Dave and I drove over to Tampa to see Vince (1st time in almost 2 yrs!) and brought him back to Orlando with us for the evening. The next day he proceeded to go to Sea World (alone, because I wouldn't go. It was my day off and a holiday weekend! You couldn't force me into that park at gunpoint given those conditions! Sorry Vince! I did laundry, dishes, and baking for a BBQ at Rebecca's (where I popped my Nintendo Wii cherry so to speak. It was ok, I think I like guitar hero and rock band better). This week I took a personal day on Wed. to go to Universal with Crystal before she moved a couple thousand miles away. It was pretty fun, the park wasn't too crowded and I finally got to ride the Simpsons ride. The Harry Potter section of Islands of Adventure also seems to be moving along nicely. This weekend I also went to the movies twice, once for 'Sex in the City' (I really was never too into the show but the tickets were free) and also for 'Prince Caspian'. Both were pretty good. I think Prince Caspian could have been better and was probably really confusing for anyone who saw it without seeing 'The Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe,' first. For me, best summer movie so far is 'Iron Man,' but there are still several blockbuster hopefuls that could steal the title. We'll just have to wait and see... Alright, I'm gonna peace out seeing as how I just keep going on and on about nothing really in attempt to put off any real work I have to do around here. Later gators! | | Wednesday, February 6th, 2008 | | 10:02 pm |
Nothing New to Report...I promise I haven't been slacking, but nothing too new or interesting has been going on lately. Dave's family just left the other day after visiting us for the week, so that was fun. They brought my godson (and soon to be nephew), Christian, who is soooo adorable. Work has been uneventful. I still detest going to work and am still trying to find a job that allows me to at least utilize my brain (hard to do in this industry, I know!) Working out could be better, but also could be worse. I try not to be too hard on myself about the gym, if I treat it like a chore it will end badly. Dave and I are doing great and I love him so much. He won't be home tonight because he has to spend the evening at the sleep clinic so they can try to fix his sleep apnea/snoring/thing. Ben & Jerry are standing in for him this evening (yum). Nothing new to report on the wedding planning front. Weddings are expensive and I have $7.00 in my checking account. Therefore, I see a loooong engagement in my future . Currently I am just shopping around looking at different wedding magazines and websites trying to figure out which direction to go in. Still don't know if it will be up North or down South. Date also yet to be determined. Don't worry, as soon as I know something, ANYTHING, I'll be sure to post! Well that is all for tonight! | | Friday, January 25th, 2008 | | 7:59 pm |
Taking a Break Chapter 4: Taking a Break.... I've been driving myself nuts the last few days trying to figure out wedding stuff and also cleaning the apartment (which is MUCH easier said than done) before Dave's family gets here. So I'm cutting myself some slack and taking a break! So here is the question of the day (stolen from the xanga home page...maybe sometime I'll be ambitious enough to pose my own question, but not today ). 'What one or two lines of a song would you call the best lyrics ever written? ' I have a tie (I know, I'm a big cheater!) 'And when the broken-hearted people Living in the world agree There will be an answer let it be For though they may be parted There is still a chance that they will see There will be an answer let it be ' 'Let it Be' -The Beatles and..... 'And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know You realize that life goes fast It's hard to make the good things last You realize the sun doesn't go down It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round ' 'Do You Realize' -The Flaming Lips Both of these are extremely beautiful songs...at least they are to me....and helped me get through the passing of my grandma a few years ago (coolest lady ever! ) So what do you think are the best lyrics????

Back to the Sunshine State Chapter 3 : Back to the Sunshine State My week back up north was great, but tiring. One of those vacations you need a vacation from. It was nice to see my mom and some of my family though. I only wish I had more time. I was hoping to get to go to the zoo or the art museum, and I also wanted to visit some people as well. Unfortunately being in Ohio for only two days kind of put a limit on what I could do. However, I was excited to see the snow and have a little cold weather! The car ride to St. Louis was pretty easy...except for going through Indy. Indy was rough because instead of continuing west I really wanted to head south to Bloomington back to IU to visit. Knowing that my friends were so close by, but not being able to stop really was frusterating and slightly depressing. Being in St. Louis was a little like being in Ohio. There was so much I wanted to do, but no time because of all the stuff we HAD to do. Oh well, I know I'll make it back there soon. The flight back to Florida was pretty smooth, except that once we landed they couldn't pull the plane up to the terminal because of lightning so I just had to sit there and wait. Normally it wouldn't have been so bad, but it was late, I was tired, missing my sweetie, and knew he had dinner at home waiting for us (along with more of season 1 'Heroes' which he restrained from watching ahead without me while I was gone). I took Sunday off to recover and went back to work on Monday. Today is Wednesday and I'm already sick of work again and don't want to go in tomorrow. What can I say, it's a paycheck. But I really hope one day I will find a job I actually enjoy or at least one that will make a positive impact on society. Well I guess that brings me up to the present. Currently I am relaxing after a short (but seemingly long) day at work, followed by my Wed. night yoga addiction (which I am hoping will help with my angry/bitter thing), and lots of cleaning in preparation of Dave's family visiting us this weekend. I want to make sure the apt is nice and clean and 'baby friendly' (meaning that I took down both Christmas trees...yes both, I had two this year....before March), because Dave's parents are also bringing down my future nephew/godson Christian. The day before they arrive Dave and I are throwing on our 'red neck best' and going to the monster truck rally....seriously....so I need to make sure my apt is all ready for the fam before I head off for a day of BBQ, beer, and mullet spotting. But I'll talk more about that later....hopefully with lots of pics I'm sure there was more I meant to talk about but I'm REALLY tired and I'm not even sure this entry is coherent or makes any sense so I'm going to cut my losses and head to bed. G'Night! | | Sunday, January 13th, 2008 | | 1:06 am |
Recovery Chapter 2 'The Recovery' So it is the beginning of a new year and like the rest of the population of planet Earth I have some goals and resolutions for 2008. Like most, my resolutions all have to do with improving the quality of different aspects of my life. Physically, obviously I'd like to lose weight, exercise, eat better, yadda..yadda..yadda. Spiritually, I need to find Dave and I a good church down here (or at least an english speaking one), and overall I just need to gain some perspective and be more grateful for the hand I've been dealt. Emotionally, I just need to simmer down! I let work and money problems eat away at me way too much. I'm so tired of letting something as insignificant as my lame entry level job determine if I'm happy or not. There are more important things in life. Luckily right now I am at the beginning of a week long vacation and so I've decided to use this time to recover from the headache which is my job, the stress which is my money situation, and anything else that is holding me down (or at least I'm trying!) I get to fly back to Ohio on Monday for two days and then drive to St. Louis with my mom and hang out there for a few more. Finally, a break from this 80 degree weather craziness. And more literally, I am recovering from the 1/2 marathon that my mom and I ran this morning.....all muscles from the waist down definately burning! And now I'm going to bed to recover from this very long, but wonderful day (which began at 4 a.m.!) | | Friday, January 11th, 2008 | | 12:20 am |
A New Year...A New Attempt Alright it is a new year and a new attempt at blogging! Chapter 1 'The Holidays' Unfortunately holidays don't really exist for anyone who works for the hospitality industry or in a tourist mecca like Orlando. This is so unfortunate because I haven't seen the majority of my family in over 6 months and the other part in over a year. I miss family gatherings during the holiday season and every year the bonds in my family dissolve just a little bit more. I haven't talked to the majority of my father's side of the family in over a year. Do you even still call them family after that long? When you know they just don't care? Unfortunately all caring passed away with my grandmother, which is really sad. I feel like even though she isn't with us, we're letting her down. But on a happier note.... Luckily I did get Christmas Eve off...even though I wasn't thrilled because even though I had it off, Dave still had to work. So I spent the day getting some last minute gifts and discovered an awesome store that sells only popcorn in a dozen different flavors (including eggnog and champagne). I also picked up some last minute groceries so I could cook up a nice Christmas Eve dinner. After my kick-butt dinner, Dave and I exchanged our gifts. He received a board game, a nice kitchen knife and sharpener (we've gotten into cooking lately), a beer cookbook, some other stuff and my big gift, which was a 3 day 2 night trip to a resort on St. Pete's beach (which was free because I won it and didn't tell him so I could suprise him for Christmas). I saved this for the last gift of the evening, but then Dave said, 'Oh wait, I forgot, I have another gift for you in my room.' and I said, ' Oooo! Is it a yoga mat???' (I really wanted a yoga mat) 'Maybe....' Dave replied. 'Or pajamas?' I asked. 'You'll see...' then he came out with a small gift-wrapped box. I tore open the paper and opened it to find absolutely nothing. It was empty. I looked up at him to find him holding a diamond ring. And then silence......which I found out later was what Dave calls 'creating dramatic pause.' Then he asked me to marry him, to which of course I said, 'YES!' So there you have it, my engagement story. Needless to say, I enjoyed the final week of 2007 breaking the news to all of our friends. 2007 ended at a small, but thoroughly entertaining, New Year's party at Shannon and Erin's home. There was food, drink, a balding ferret, a leg lamp a la Christmas Story, and a fire cracker shooting back into the house. And of course 2007 ended and 2008 began with a kiss from the fiance. | | Wednesday, December 7th, 2005 | | 11:56 pm |

my birthday... | Your Birthdate: December 7 | Born on the 7th day of month gives you a tendency to be something of a perfectionist and makes you more individualistic in many ways. Your mind is good at deep mental analysis and complicated reasoning. You are very psychic and sensitive, and you should usually follow your hunches.
You may not take orders too well, so you may want to work alone or in a situation where you can be the boss. This birthday gives a tendency to be somewhat self-centered and a little stubborn. | |
